WHAT’S ON: SUMMER TERM

As a funded charity we hope to offer a variety of activities throughout the year. These are led by the feedback of our young people and the funding available.

  • Finding the most efficient way of getting from A to B using equipment. You will learn a variety of jumps, rolls and flips as well as flow between objects. Taught by coaches from Spiral Freerun. All sessions suitable and adapted for beginner, intermediate and advanced learners.

  • This is a multi-sports club. We aim to include a range of sports and activities, encouraging active lifestyles, fun and enjoyment of sport. Sessions are delivered by our Sports Coaches and are adapted to different age groups and ability.

  • Tumbles and Dance

    Aimed at our younger age group, open to all abilities. Young people will learn basic gymnastics and including some dance activities. They will also play a variety of games developing their teamwork and social skills.

  • Paddle

    Working alongside canoe trail this club takes young people out on the Great River Ouse in a range of crafts including canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. All abilities can take part in this course (unless specified) led by qualified instructors. Young people will learn a range of paddle strokes and techniques, go for journeys on the river and play games.

  • A great club for building confidence, improving strength and agility. Working alongside Canoe Trail, we offer the opportunity to learn bouldering, climbing and belaying skills. In the summer months we young people can also challenge themselves on the outdoor high ropes course.

  • Guided music session with the opportunity to experiment with our array of instruments from Ukulele to Bongos! Sessions also include a time to socialise with friends in a peaceful environment, play a variety of board games or get creative with colouring and hammer beads.

  • We offer swimming lessons from beginners to improvers. Lessons are 30 minutes and are set according to ability by our qualified swimming team. Our aim is to teach an important life skill, enabling young people to be safe and confident in water. Young people will need to be assessed on ability before being signed up. Once enrolled in swimming you do not need to sign up again.

  • We run activities in February half term, Easter and Summer Holidays. These courses are based on a school site and include a wide range of activities such as sport, dance, drama, art, science, DT, cooking and more. Activities are led by our tutors and young people are split into age groups. Young people are encouraged to make new friends, have fun and try new things.

  • Adventure Days

    We offer adventure days run alongside Canoe Trail at Kempston Outdoor Centre or Willington woodlands. Activities can include outdoor adventurous activities such as paddle sports, archery, indoor climbing, bush craft and team building, as well as enjoying a camp fire and toasting marshmallows.

  • Residentials Camp

    Every year we aim to take young people year 9-11, away on a residential trip during a school holiday to engage in outdoor adventure activities. These trips are aimed to build a young person’s confidence, encourage independence and give them new experiences.

Tickets Explained

On our Eventbrite page, you will see a range of tickets available to book. There are 4 main types:

BURSARY: If a ticket title includes “BURSARY” it means anyone who qualifies for a bursary place can book this ticket. Bursary places are offered to give all the opportunity to access our service. Please read our BURSARY CRITERIA to see if your young person qualifies for this ticket. We will ask for evidence the first time you book a bursary place to show your YP meets our criteria.

PAID PLACE: If your young person does not qualify for a bursary ticket we have paid places available. When you sign up for a paid place, you will be automatically added to our waiting list, after you have paid for the space via the payment link sent to your email address, we will then confirm your young person’s space.

AGE: A ticket may also be specific for an age group. If a ticket title includes “Sch Yr” it is for the school year specified only.

Holiday Clubs:

TICKETS EXPLAINED

We are able to offer a limited amount of HAF places at our holiday clubs, in addition to our Bursary and Paid Places.

The government Holiday Activity and Food Fund (HAF) allows participants who receive income-related free school meal benefits, to attend holiday activities and receive food help.

If you are eligible for HAF, you will receive an E-Voucher code which can be obtained from your YPs school. HAF places are free and include lunch each day. Please be aware that HAF tickets must be booked directly through E-vouchers.

We operate on a first come first served basis for both F4YP tickets and HAF tickets.

If you are entitled to HAF but do not wish to take up this offer, you can book a bursary place through our booking system.

BURSARY

In all our courses we have bursary criteria which can be found here. These places are at no cost but do not include a meal. Attendees must bring a packed lunch each day.

PAID

If you do not qualify for a bursary or HAF place we have some places that are paid tickets. Attendees must bring a packed lunch each day.
