Swimming & SEND - Helping YP take part in swimming
At swimming, with the provision of an additional staff member thanks to funding from Bedford Giving, we were able to accommodate more YP with SEND within our lessons. One impact of this is a YP who was previously overwhelmed in a swimming pool environment, often experiencing anxiety and finding reasons to opt out of lessons they had tried in the past. Having staff with knowledge of SEND and capacity to work closely with them, enabled us to talk them through the lesson with cl

Parkour - After School Club
YPJ started our Parkour after-school club part way through autumn term, and you could tell that they weren’t too sure if this was their thing. In their first session, YPJ needed a lot of support from our team because sometimes they struggled to do some of the parkour skills and would be very negative about themself, for example, saying “I can’t do this” and leaving the activity. Their ADHD meant that at times in the sessions they couldn’t stay engaged and so we adapted to cre

Peaceful Paddle - After School Club
With thanks to Bedford Giving, were able to fund an additional 6 spaces at our 9-week primary paddle club and add an additional staff member. This brought our normal ratio down significantly and enabled us to support our SEND YP more closely. Previously, this would have been unachievable due to the high-risk nature of the activity (deep water). We were able to take part in different activities to learn skills in kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddle boarding. This was well

Case Study - SEND support
YPB first attended F4YP in Easter 2023. They had tried other holiday clubs but unfortunately, due to their needs, this had not been an enjoyable experience. YPB initially attended our school specific holiday club and had a lovely time. They have since participated in Autumn and Spring after school clubs, have attended our February Half term club and is signing up for Easter and summer term activities. Having received YPB EHCP, our pastoral team created a support plan for them

SEND Support in Multi-Arts
We run a multi-arts after school club at Kempston East Methodist Church for our minis age group. This club includes activities including; Dance, Drama, Music, Singing, Mixed Media Creations, and drawings. With thanks to Bedford Giving, over the past year, we were able to provide additional spaces to support young people aged 5-8 with SEND in these sessions . This included providing additional staff to support their needs. Our pastoral team undertake a variety of SEND training

After School - Empowerment & Wellbeing
Within our team, we identified that some of our young people, especially girls, struggle with confidence, resilience, and a sense of self. Identifying this need, we began a new after-school club, a girls-only initiative aimed at personal growth, self-care, and developing skills that they could identify they wanted to work on. Our Multi-Activity Club was created with a relaxed and supportive environment where girls could explore various interests while developing coping skill

Isle of White Legends
We asked some of our older young people to tell us their F4YP Story: “I have come to F4YP since I was 8-9 years old. I have made lifelong friends and have also just met people along the way. Every single time I have come to holiday club, trips and volunteered with minis I have enjoyed and had fun each time. I will always remember the staff and people that have helped me when I have not been as happy or upset. Overall, my experience has been rewarding and helped me grow in mul

Cooking at Holiday Club: Pizza Workshop
At Fun 4 Young People (F4YP), we believe learning to cook a super important life skill, and a fun way to explore new foods! We had a pizza-making workshop at holiday club, run by teams at Marcello’s Pizzeria and Curly Sisters Catering and Co. Italian chefs Dani and Frankie took our junior YP step-by-step through the whole pizza-making process. From kneading dough to choosing toppings and popping their pizzas in the oven, providing hands-on experience. Not only did they lea
