Paddle Overnight Camp
One success of the summer term 2023 was our senior paddle after-school course that culminated in our overnight camp. YP took part in a 9-week course, learning paddling skills on various crafts including canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. This group was made up of individuals who knew one or two attendees and finished with the whole group bonding and forming new relationships. We invited these attendees to participate in our overnight camp which involved paddling on a journey

We asked some of our older young people to tell us their F4YP Story: “I have come to F4YP since I was 8-9 years old. I have made lifelong friends and have also just met people along the way. Every single time I have come to holiday club, trips and volunteered with minis I have enjoyed and had fun each time. UKSA: Sea Change Foundation Isle of Wight Residential
YPF’s Story: At the start of the week YPF was reserved, clearly anxious about coming and wasn’t excited to be on the trip. YPF said they were extremely worried about going into the water and didn’t want to be forced to do something that made them feel uncomfortable. F4YP, along with the UKSA staff encouraged YPF throughout the week and made them feel safe by not forcing her to participate if they didn’t want to, giving them choice.
